INTRODUCTION

The Florida Atlantic Research Park offers high tech industries the potential for Research and Development, (R&D), and partnerships with Florida Atlantic University.

As the only university related Research Park in South Florida, we are home to 28 high tech, high wage companies and operate the only Technology Incubator in the Southern part of the state. We support an Angel and Venture Network from the Incubator.  The Incubator is also the home to the most successful regional economic development engine- Enterprise Development Corp (EDC).

We are the closest Incubator and Research Park to the home to Scripps Florida, The Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies, a joint four-year medical program with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. We are located adjacent to the Boca Raton Airport and midway between Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach International Airports. In addition we are also the closest to the world-renowned Harbor Branch Research Center. We are almost midway between FIU, UCF, and only 2 hours from FGCU. University of Miami has locations in our park. We support the Statewide LamdaRail data connection for research.

Florida Atlantic University (FAU) formed the Florida Atlantic Research and Development Authority in 1985 with the support of the Broward and Palm Beach county commissions. The R&D Authority is responsible for establishing Research Parks.

ADVANTAGES

Besides the great location, there are significant advantages for businesses locating in the Research Park. Research Park partners also will be able to interact with the university community and take advantage of its facilities and expertise. Potential programs of mutual interest include:

  • Applied research directed at the industry partners' specific needs.

  • Customized educational programs.

  • Availability of faculty and students to work for the industry partner on a part-time basis.

  • Industry partners' professional staff participation in advanced degree programs.
  • Home of the new Florida Institute for Commercialization of Public Research.
  • Direct access to private jets and regional pay-by-seat jet services.
  • Both Deerfield and Boca Parks are east of I-95, adjacent to I-95, and yet, employees and executives can drive safe surface streets like A1A and US1 to work from desirable neighborhoods.
