2010-11 Report to the Community

The Research Park at Florida Atlantic University is a generator of jobs, ideas, new technologies and critical economic activity.  Only here can our University interact with a FTSE 250 company, a Fortune 1000 company and a host of cutting edge privately held companies as well as our region’s most promising emerging technology companies in the C. Scott Ellington Technology Business Incubator (TBI), and only here can those companies interact with a vibrant, growing research university with all the benefits and opportunities that brings.

The Research Park’s 22 technology and R&D companies support 782 direct, on-site jobs, paying an overall average annual salary of $86,176, some 97% above the average salary in Broward County and 88% above the average salary in Palm Beach County [1].  776 indirect jobs are also created by the effects the tenants have on the surrounding communities.  The companies collectively earn revenues of $1.58B annually.  The jobs they support are separate and apart from the jobs created by the resident companies in the TBI, and of the support companies in the Research Park, of which there are five [2]

The overall economic impact to South Florida’s economy of the companies in the Research Park at FAU will be $264,900,000 in 2012, increasing to $304,400,000 in 2016.
