Lonnie Maier, Chair

 Lonnie Maier is currently Enterprise Sales Leader, FPL FiberNet, responsible for the Florida and Georgia markets. Under her leadership, new business revenues have grown exponentially, and 10 new high-wage jobs have been filled in Florida to facilitate the expansion of the Enterprise segment. Lonnie’s rewarding 30 year career in the technology & telecommunications sector has encompassed various leadership assignments in network services, consulting and manufacturing firms. Prior to joining FPL FiberNet, she served as Director of Enterprise Sales at Nortel, and led the Florida organization to record sales and improved client and channel relationships. Previous roles included President of Maier & Associates, an independent telecommunications consulting firm, where she assisted clients in vendor management and initiatives to reduce operational expense. As Area VP, Large Business Sales, while at BellSouth Business Systems, Lonnie held a variety of roles but most notably, led her team to improve customer satisfaction and retention rates, while increasing sales productivity, in a very competitive marketplace. 

 

Lonnie’s passion for results is evidenced in her work and also in the business community as she continues to volunteer in multiple capacities. She currently serves as Chair of the board for the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University, Vice President of the South Florida Technology Alliance, Board member of the Enterprise Development Corporation, and is an active member of IT Women and the South Florida HIMSS organizations. As a long-time proponent of economic development and technology, she is always looking for ways to bridge her corporate positions with important community initiatives and create synergies which will ultimately lead to new jobs. Lonnie also held numerous executive committee roles while on the Board of Directors for the Greater Ft. Lauderdale Alliance (formerly the Broward Alliance), up to and including Chairman, from 1996 - 2004. Lonnie had the privilege to serve as Vice Chair of VisionBroward, a 20 year community visioning project from 2002 – 2004. Her experience with VisionBroward was at a crucial time for South Florida, and positioned her to better understand the factors impacting long-term growth in our vibrant community. Other South Florida organizations that Lonnie served as a board member include the InternetCoast, the Workforce One Business Development Committee, and serving an appointee to the Commission on the Status of Women. 

 

Lonnie holds a Masters of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and earned her undergraduate degree from Florida State University.
