Research Park at FAU Chairman's Distinguished Service Award

The Chairman’s Distinguished Service Award is the highest award the Authority presents and is reserved for an individual who has shown a significant and sustained commitment and contribution to achieving the Research Park at FAU’s mission and vision.

The inaugural award is presented to Michael I. Daszkal, CPA.

Michael Daszkal began his service as a member of the Authority in July 2007 just as a sale of assets was on the horizon, one that would take months of negotiations and meetings. In 2010, Michael was elected Chair of the Authority and the incumbent president passed away, leaving Michael to manage the day-to-day affairs of the Authority and Research Park at FAU, search for the next president in addition to running his own business. Michael skillfully spent time mentoring the new president in 2011, making sure nothing was left unattended or incomplete. Thankfully, when he was elected as Chair for a second time in 2017 there were no such disruptions, and he completed his second two-year stint as chairman successfully in 2018. Few members have been elected to serve as chair twice and it is a testament to the dedication Michael had for his position of trust that his colleagues elected him to the role twice. Michael has always made sure our mission and needs were well known in the community and that all our events are well attended, well sponsored and well publicized to other organizations he is a part of. Perhaps most importantly, Michael has always taken a keen interest in the well-being of the staff of the Authority and made sure they felt heard and respected.

After fourteen years of service, Michael remains a member of the Chairman's Circle and it is an honor for the Research Park at FAU to recognize Michael I. Daszkal, CPA as its inaugural Chairman’s Distinguished Service Award recipient.
