Leading South Florida's Technology-Based Economic Development
For over thirty-five years the Research Park at FAU has led technology-based economic development in South Florida by forging connections between innovative entrepreneurs and the research faculty at Florida Atlantic. It has facilitated the commercialization of discoveries which has led to new product releases, revenue growth, job creation and research into new technologies.
Distinguished by its contributions to research and development, commercialization, and economic development in partnership with Florida Atlantic University, the Research Park FAU has established itself as the premier university research park in Florida.
Association of University Research Parks Definition:
A university research park is a property-based venture which:
- Master plans property designed for research and commercialization
- Creates partnerships with universities and research institutions
- Encourages the growth of new companies
- Translates technology
- Drives technology-led economic development
Florida Atlantic Research and Development Authority
Governance and Public Information
The Research Park at Florida Atlantic University is governed by the Florida Atlantic Research and Development Authority, an independent special district created by Florida Atlantic University in partnership with Palm Beach and Broward counties, organized under Chapter 159, Part V, Florida Statutes.
Palm Beach and Broward counties' boards of county commissioners each appoint three members to the Authority and the president of Florida Atlantic University, or the president's designee, is an ex officio member, as established by state statute and county ordinances.
